Exhibition “The Lesson” by Alexander Ivanov and Academy Rosa Foundation

Academia Roza

The annual Summer Music Academies, organized by the Academia Roza Foundation, are a forum for training young orchestral performers. The organisers have chosen this particular form of education (rather than, for example, masterclasses), driven by the belief that students do not receive adequate opportunity for rehearsal and concert activity within a formed orchestra as part of their education in the high school arts curriculum. The Foundation aims to inspire participants by providing them with the opportunity to work with musical mentors who have proven their talent and professionalism at home and abroad.

An additional goal of the Foundation is, by organizing free final concerts, to make classical music accessible to audiences in small towns and to encourage the development of cultural tourism.

A key principle in the Foundation’s work is accessibility – this is why the Summer Music Academy as a training forum is completely free of charge for the participants, and the concerts held by the Academy are free to the public in small towns.

The lesson

It is for everyone – students and teachers. It is a responsibility – for the institution ensuring its normal course, from the preparation at the beginning, to the exam at the end.

It was also a test for the photographer, in his desire to show it figuratively, in the most documentary-realistic way possible. With the problems of youth and daily tiring activities, the accumulated fatigue and lack of sleep, to reach the growth and the final chords of the works from the program.
