The traveling photo exhibition “Selected” 12th International Photo Salon PLOVDIV 2025 visits
the Museum of Photography – Kazanlak at first after its opening on the streets of Plovdiv.
The exhibition “Selected” of the 12th International Photo Salon PLOVDIV 2025 will begin its presentation at the Museum of Photography in Kazanlak on August 19, 2025, Tuesday, at 6:00 p.m. The selection will feature photographs by authors from 29 countries, some of which are by Bulgarian photographers.

The opening of the photo exhibition “Selected” at the museum will also be attended by Tzontcho Balkandzhiev, who will present his recently published book. The book is 192 pages long and is a monograph of his long-standing work in four sections: The Mountain; Water States; Graphic Impressions; Faith, Land, and People.
The exhibition will be on display at the museum until September 13, 2025.
The Plovdiv Photo Salon is held under the patronage of FIAP, HPS, and NSFA, and thanks to the traditional support of the municipality of Plovdiv.
A five-member jury of three foreigners and two Bulgarians reviewed and evaluated all photographs between May 26 and June 6, 2025. The jury was chaired by FIAP Honorary Vice President Freddy Van Gilbergen, MFIAP, HonEFlAP, (Belgium) and included members Sandra Zagolin, EFIAP/g (Italy), Lu Ming, ESFIAP (China), Minko Mihaylov, EFIAP/p (Bulgaria), Dimo Hristov, EFIAP/b (Bulgaria), and alternate jury member Alexander Ivanov, EFIAP (Bulgaria), reviewed a total of 4,952 photographs submitted by 355 participants from 43 countries.
With high professionalism and expertise, they determined the final selection and awards for the 12th MFS Plovdiv 2025. The exhibition includes 1,265 photographs by 282 participants from 42 countries.
The best photographs won 187 individual awards. This rich prize fund honored the works of a total of 128 authors from 32 countries. The final selection includes 72 Bulgarian authors with 209 photographs. We are very proud to say that Bulgaria and Bulgarian authors have once again performed well this year. Their works will reach countries around the world through the printed album.
A total of 33 Bulgarian photographers won 47 awards.
This year, a new award was added to the 12th International Photo Salon PLOVDIV 2025.
This is the author’s book by Tsontcho Balkandzhiev, EFIAP, which he will present to a Bulgarian author in the Nature section, and that is Nikolay Stoyanov with the photograph “Spring Territorial Claims,” which also won a FlAP bronze medal in the section.
The plaque for “Best Performing Bulgarian Author” goes to Noncho Ivanov.
The plaque for “Best Performing Plovdiv Author” goes to Lyubomir Argirov, EFIAP/b, who also won the plaque for “Best Travel Photographer and Storyteller” from the Travel Tales Award, Italy, in the current edition of the Plovdiv International Photography Festival.
The honorary diploma of the Municipality of Plovdiv was awarded to a photograph by Ivan Ivanov, who is also a Plovdiv photographer.
